The EIA (Energy Information Administration), America’s official energy statistics body, has recently published its US Crude Oil Production Forecast for the years 2009-2030. The report (EIA – Annual Energy Outlook 2009) forecasts a robust growth rate for US crude oil production, a radical reversal of a 40-year trend of decline in oil-production. The forecast surprised many knowledgeable analysts because the numbers just do not make sense.
